Frequently Asked Questions
About the Sphynx Breed
1. Are Sphynx cats completely hairless?
No. Most Sphynx cats have a fine layer of soft fuzz that feels similar to suede or warm peach skin. Some may have slightly more hair on the nose, ears, tail, or paws.
2. Are Sphynx cats hypoallergenic?
No cat is truly hypoallergenic. Sphynx cats produce the same allergens as other cats, but some allergy sufferers may react less due to the lack of shedding. We always recommend spending time with a Sphynx before committing if you have allergies.
3. What is the personality of a Sphynx cat like?
Sphynx cats are affectionate, social, intelligent, and highly people-oriented. They thrive on companionship and often follow their owners around the home. They are known for being playful, curious, and very cuddly.
4. Do Sphynx cats get cold easily?
Yes. Because they have little to no coat, Sphynx cats seek warmth and should live indoors only. They enjoy heated beds, blankets, sunny windows, and warm laps.
Care & Maitanance
5. Do Sphynx cats need baths?
Not usually. We do not routinely bathe our Sphynx cats unless genuinely needed. Over-bathing can sometimes irritate the skin or increase oil production. Regular ear cleaning, nail care, and maintaining a clean environment are generally more important for day-to-day care.
6. How often should ears and nails be cleaned?
Sphynx cats typically need regular ear cleaning and nail maintenance due to oil buildup. We recommend checking ears weekly and trimming nails every 2–3 weeks.
7. What do you feed your kittens?
We feed a high-quality, balanced diet designed to support healthy growth and digestion. New owners receive a feeding guide and transition recommendations when taking their kitten home.
8. Can Sphynx cats go outside?
We recommend indoor-only homes or secure catios or professionally secured garden. Sphynx cats are sensitive to sunburn, cold temperatures, and outdoor hazards.
